Feeling
Overwhelmed?
Very
often, the idea of a pregnancy brings with
it many overwhelming thoughts and feelings.
Below are some of the most common questions
and concerns voiced by women facing and unplanned
pregnancy.
Feeling: This isn't a good time for me........
Response:
Don't panic. Slow down. Explore all of
your options. Don't rush into a decision.
Feeling:
My parents will kill me......
Response:
Yes, your parents might initially be upset and disappointed but, they
love you and most will want to be there for you. Don't let what others
think dictate your actions (response). Decided what is best for you
and your baby.
Feeling:
Is it really a baby yet?
Response:
A baby's heart starts beating on the 18th day after conception.
This is way before
most women even know they are pregnant. By
the
8th
week a baby is fully developed and now only needs time to grow
larger.
Feeling:
My boyfriend will leave me and won't support me....
Response:
Your boyfriend is just as responsible for the pregnancy as you
are. If he is going to leave you just because you want to give your
unborn child a chance at life, then it is questionable whether he loved
you at all. Either way he is still legally required to pay child support
after the baby is born.
Feeling:
My boyfriend/parents want
me to have an abortion.
Response:
No one can legally force you to have an abortion, but pressure
from boyfriend or family can be overwhelming. Don't let anyone force
you to have an abortion you are the one who must live with your decision
for the rest of your life.
Feeling:
I can't afford a baby....
Response:
There is a way. There are many government programs and agencies
that can help support you through your pregnancy.
There
is help and you are not alone.
